Yellowstone

Experiencing Yellowstone on a snowmobile is a unique way to explore the park. The thousands of people who visit in the summer fade away to create a quiet, snowy atmosphere. Private permits are available by a lottery system, but you can also go with an authorized guide to get your sled time in the park during winter.

Paradise Valley

Mill Creek Trail and the 20-mile Shields Loop combine with others for a total of 44 miles of groomed trail around Livingston and into the Paradise Valley. The Absaroka-Beartooth Mountains hold miles of National Forest routes to explore, making a dramatic setting for every adventure.

Cooke City

Cooke City-Silver Gate sits at the end of the park road that winds through the Lamar Valley inside Yellowstone. But this census-designated place is technically outside the park, bordering National Forest land, with one of the longest winter seasons around.

ATV

The sweet turn of rubber, the engine roar, the rush of hitting uphills hard—ATVing is a wild ride, and the area holds miles of trails worth traveling.

Wicked Creek Trail

In Paradise Valley, Wicked Creek Trail offers several miles for ATV fun. This is a great starting place for beginner riders, since it’s made up of non-technical doubletrack without blind corners. Enjoy the scenery, and just cruise.

Bridger Range

Livingston sits on the east side of the Bridger Range, providing great access to Olsen Creek, a prime motorized trail system that will let you enjoy the wilds of the mountain range. With 24 miles to explore, you’ll love the views the whole way.

Get the Gear

For gear rentals, Bozeman is a quick drive, with plenty of gear outfitters that can help get you out on the trails or on the snow. Summit All Terrain Rentals and Big Boys Toys both offer ATV and snowmobile rentals, on top of other gear for outdoor fun.

Go with the Pros

If you aren’t at a level where you feel comfortable heading into the backcountry alone, that shouldn’t keep you from hitting it hard.
