From Bozeman

A Bozeman base grants you access to frontcountry and backcountry terrain to get excited for. Take your pick from a local treasure or a luxury expanse of skiing reminiscent of the Swiss Alps. Whichever way you choose to explore, Bozeman is the place to be.

Big Sky

Big Sky lives up to the size expectations laid out in its name. With more than 5,800 skiable acres, 4,350 vertical feet, and 38 lifts, there's lots of room to go around here. The Lone Peak Tram can take you up over 11,000 feet in elevation, raising you to unimaginable heights and views. And heading down is pretty epic, too – the longest run stretches a whopping 6 miles from its peak at Liberty Bowl down to Mountain Village. The "Biggest Skiing in America" is certainly worth a try in Big Sky.

Bridger Bowl

Bridger Bowl is the local favorite, with epic in-bounds terrain and the famous Bridger Ridge just 16 miles from town. Before you hop on Schlasman's Lift, pack your beacon; it's required to even get on the lift up to the Ridge. This is some of the most challenging in-bounds skiing you can find, with unmarked cliffs and other hazards well-worth it for the deep powder stashes you can get into. For those looking for a trip that's a little less extreme, you still have over 1,000 acres of more mellow avalanche-controlled terrain to explore.

Red Lodge Mountain

Expect low prices and Montana hospitality at Red Lodge Mountain, about a two-hour drive from Livingston. Runs meander through the Beartooth Mountains, with six chairlifts catering to 1,635 acres. And if you love a good bluebird day, enjoy sunshine 70 percent of the time at Red Lodge. When you want to ditch the lift lines and get a rugged Montana experience, this is the place to go.

Showdown Montana

Less than two hours north of Livingston, Showdown is the small-town ski hill you won't want to miss. With just three chairs on the mountain, you're truly going local here. You know it's old-school (and utterly Montana) because the snow is all-natural, with no snow-making around. They're typically open just Wednesday through Sunday outside of the holidays, so be sure to plan accordingly.
