Utilizing solar reduces the waste we see in CO2 emissions that comes from coal and other traditional energy sources. Efficient Lighting

Speaking of bright, lighting can play a role in the waste at a hotel, as well. Highline properties are making the switch to more efficient, LED light bulbs to reduce waste and energy consumption at the same time. LED lights use 75% less energy and can last 25 times longer than incandescent lighting, saving electricity while using fewer bulbs. Guests can also help reduce electricity use by flipping the light switch off when you leave the room, and extend that energy savings even further.

Recycling What We Can

We do all we can at Highline to cut out unnecessary waste. But sometimes the waste we can’t help but create can be repurposed through recycling. It’s estimated that 50-60% of the total waste produced by hotels is recyclable, including food, office paper, cardboard, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles. So, don’t chuck that soda can or paper bag in the trash. Look for recycling bins at Highline Adventures properties and anywhere you travel nearby, helping give metals, papers and plastics a new life away from the landfill.

Ditching Single-Use Plastics

The average hotel guest produces 2.5 pounds of trash per day. Highline Adventures is committed to cutting this number down by making the small changes that really add up. Switching away from individually packaged shampoos and soaps to multi-use dispensers is just the start.
