This is a very secluded and quiet location, yet convenient to drive to Kapa'a and the north shore of Kauai. Anahola Beach has a lifeguard and is only a 5-minute drive away. Aliomanu Beach is right in front of the house and is one of the most “private” beaches on the island, though anyone can access the beach if they know how (there are no private beaches on Kauai). The town of Kilauea is about 15 minutes to the north and has a wonderful mini-golf course, playground, music venue, shops, and the historic lighthouse and wildlife sanctuary. Anini Beach is also nearby and offers some of the best snorkeling on the north side.

This house is all about watching the ocean. Sit out on the back porch in the morning and keep an eye out for whales breeching in season. If there is some rain, lay in the indoor hammock on the second floor viewing room and do the same. Watch the waves and listen to the rhythm of the ocean day and night.

During low tide, the beach can be accessed from right in front of the house. During high tide, guests can walk along the sea wall down three houses and then access the beach where it is always above the tide. Guests can also walk further down (about ⅛-mile) Aliomanu Road to the end and access the beach through a public oasis with a pond. Snorkeling can be great if the water is calm. Spear fishermen can also be seen in the evening.

We recycle plastics (#1 and #2 shaped like bottles), aluminum, tin, glass, paper, and cardboard. The home uses a solar hot water heater. Energy-efficient mini-splits provide A/C, but we encourage guests to turn them off when away. LED bulbs are used throughout.

This is such a wonderfully quiet neighborhood. The only sound is of the constant waves. At night, turn off the A/C and open the windows to let the waves lull you to sleep. It’s also an amazing place to see the Milky Way, as there are almost no lights in the area.
