This house is so convenient to the West entrance of Glacier National Park – just a 15-minute walk or 3-minute drive. Also 3 minutes away is the West Glacier golf course with some of the most amazing views. The Flathead River can be accessed from down the street as well.
After touring the park, take a walk into West Glacier for dinner or drinks at Freda’s. Or take an afternoon off from exploring to play mini-golf. The rafting companies are also all located in West Glacier, as is an e-bike rental company. On a really warm day, take a 30-minute walk through West Glacier to the old bridge into the park. It was washed out in a flood years ago, but is now a hang-out spot for sun bathers and swimmers.
Enjoy the large deck for evening drinks and meals, or sit under the covered front porch if the sun is too hot. There are yard games for kids and adults alike. With two stories, there is plenty of room to spread out so each person can enjoy their time in this amazing place.
Unfortunately, Flathead County only recycles aluminum and cardboard. However, we collect any additional recycling and take it to our home in Bozeman when we head back. Therefore, we recycle plastics #1 and #2 that are shaped like bottles, aluminum, tin, glass, paper, and cardboard. There are energy efficient mini-splits to provide A/C, but we still encourage people to turn them off when they leave the house. We use LED bulbs throughout.
Location, location, location. There is so much to see and do from here. There is no place more convenient to Glacier, without being inside the park. Walk to play golf, swim in the river, have a meal or a drink, go rafting, or even set out for a day of walking and head into Apgar where you can rent a row boat or paddle board on Lake McDonald. It is all within minutes from the house.
In late July and August, keep an eye out while walking, as the huckleberries ripen and the forests around the house are full of them (though it pains me to tell people about them).
